a poem for a tiny soul

“On the Night You Were Born”

you are a soft tumbling 
under my heart.

i long to know you,
to know your frame
like i know your feeling,
your weight, your name.

i want to wonder at each
intricacy of creation
woven in the womb.

i wish to touch your
tiny face like the sun
caresses me.

i yearn for you to be
not just held in heart,
but borne
within our arms.

for now, 
i only know you 
as a soft tumbling
under my heart,
but you are the melding
of a million atoms,
you are creation reborn-

you are a part of God-
you are a part of us.
